People’s Health and Wellness Clinic Receives $5,000 Grant from Northeast Delta Dental Foundation to Support Oral Healthcare Program
Barre, VT — The People's Health and Wellness Clinic (PHWC) is pleased to announce it has received a $5,000 grant from the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation to support its expanding oral healthcare program. These funds will help the clinic continue providing essential dental services—including cleanings, x-rays, exams, and extractions—to patients who cannot afford traditional dental care.
In 2023, PHWC provided dental services to nearly 300 individuals in Central Vermont and anticipates surpassing that number in 2024.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation for their generous support,” said Daniel Barlow, Executive Director of PHWC. “This grant comes at a crucial time when the demand for free dental services is growing. The funds will ensure we can continue offering these much-needed services to individuals who otherwise would not have access to care.”
PHWC’s oral health program, which has grown significantly in recent years, is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care to underserved populations. The clinic's team of staff and volunteer dental professionals delivers preventive and emergency treatments that help improve the overall health of patients in need - all at no cost to the patient.
"As a provider in Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire, we rely on our grantees' deep community connections," explained Jennifer Beyer, Senior Manager, Corporate Giving, Northeast Delta Dental. "Thanks to the dedication of PHWC, we can succeed at improving access to oral health in the tri-state area."
“With this support, we can continue addressing a critical gap in healthcare for our patients,” said Joanne Puente, Oral Health Manager at PHWC. “Dental issues often exacerbate other health problems, so by offering these services, we are not only helping with oral health but contributing to patients’ broader well-being.”
The People’s Health and Wellness Clinic remains committed to its mission of providing free healthcare services to uninsured and underinsured individuals in Central Vermont. The Northeast Delta Dental’s Foundation's ongoing support enables the clinic to expand its reach and impact in the community.

BARRE, VT - The People's Health & Wellness Clinic (PHWC) is proud to announce the launch of its new gender-affirming care services, now available and free of charge to patients. This initiative is part of the clinic's ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive, inclusive, and compassionate healthcare to the community, regardless of income or insurance status.
In addition to gender-affirming care, the clinic is expanding its services to offer 2SLGBTQIA+ appropriate care, ensuring that all patients receive health care that respects and affirms their identities. This expansion of services has been made possible through the dedication of the clinic’s volunteer healthcare providers, two of whom have recently undergone specialized training in gender-affirming care. A generous United Way of Northeast New England grant funded this training.
